"If tech-sludge isn't a genre already, it is now. Volcano Calculator plays a flailing, lurching brand of virtuosic, uptempo, jazz-level-complex modern metal that defies any easy categorisation. Tech-death guitar riffs and grooves over top of a very sharp and slammin' rhythm section make this album something new altogether. If Black Flag had been a metal band, they might've sounded like this. Favorite track: High Speed Bitch."
- Max Taylor
"This music is crisp, crunchy and a great mental odyssey through the more intense possibilities of brutal rhythm and lyrical odyssey. Fans of everyone from Pantera, Gorguts and Dayglo Abortions will delight in the mosh pit sensibilities on this album. It's actually hard to choose a favorite track, but I chose Golden Horns for its particularly profound bit of wordplay. This is one of those rare albums where you will not be picking through songs, but playing it all the way through - many times! Favorite track: Golden Horns."
- Anthony Metivier
"You have created a new genre of metal. Technical Death Punk Metal. And it’s awesome!"
- Clint Sparks

Sludgy dark mathematical thrash metal power trio with 8-string guitar, 6-string bass, drums and gnarly vocals.
Volcano Calculator was born out of the ashes of Crushing Complex when guitarist Sean Luciw realized it was time to do things his way. "Heavy metal rhythm guitar will always ignite my heart and soul, and odd time signatures provide infinitely ripe territory for mental exploration. This band is the resulting combination." The power trio format is powerfully pure and simple, featuring Kyle Lucas on bass and Nick Pattie on drums. The recorded style is tight but understated, to reflect the true sound of the band's live performance. Heavy metal sometimes has a lack of bass guitar in the recorded sound, but this is not the case with Volcano Calculator... in yo face! Here you will find no guitar solos, no whammy bars, and no fake overdubbing of extra vocal layers or artsy-fartsy keyboards... just the real deal. This is metal with a punk rock attitude. You could say the lyrics are somewhat pissed off! For extra low-down heavy sound, Volcano Calculator uses 8-string guitar and 6-string bass, reaching almost an octave lower than normal. Brutal!
